Multi-skilled Plant Operators

Location: Horton-in-Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Operators to join our team at Horton Quarry, Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a loading shovel and/or tracked excavator, supporting quarry production and material handling activities across the site.

This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role suited to an experienced quarry operator who takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, productivity and housekeeping, and who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider site team.

The role will involve operating mobile plant, loading and moving materials, feeding processing equipment and supporting general quarry operations as required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate mobile plant in accordance with site procedures.
• Load, move and stockpile quarried materials efficiently.
• Feed crushing and screening equipment as required.
• Maintain consistent and efficient production levels.
• Carry out daily machine checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Assist with basic machine maintenance and housekeeping where appropriate.
• Work closely with the site management and production team to ensure smooth and efficient quarry operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
• Follow all site health & safety, environmental and operational procedures.
• Undertake other quarry and plant duties as required.

Essential Experience

We are looking for an experienced operator with knowledge of:

• Loading shovel and/or Tracked Excavator – essential
• Quarry experience – essential
• Experience working around crushing and screening equipment.
• Good understanding of site health & safety requirements.
• Ability to carry out routine machine checks and identify mechanical issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Advantageous Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience operating mobile plant (Excavator/Loading Shovel/ADT/Rigid Dumper).
• Geotechnical experience would be an advantage.
• Experience operating or working alongside crushing and screening plant.
• Basic mechanical maintenance skills.
• Experience working in aggregates, concrete, asphalt, recycling or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Relevant mobile plant/operator qualifications.

The successful candidate must be within reasonable daily driving distance of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, as accommodation/lodge is not provided.
